It was a great match, one for the ages. And one which Nadal deserved to win. It's all the sweeter when you beat the champion in a tough, well fought tennis match.

While Nadal isn't officially #1 yet, he is very close. He is certainly #1 for the year. It makes the Olympics and US Open all the more important. Ironic that for all the talk and actuality that Nadal's #2 position was in jeopardy, Nadal is now poised to take over the top spot.  And of course you'll hear more from me about "Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown!"  (I know some folks probably get tired of me saying this, but I think it's so appropot for the tennis world these days, and the saying bears repeating.)
