Querrey loses to Gilles Simon and James Blake loses to Tursunov today in the semis of Indy. The European countries are sending their fourth-rate players, Rafa and Roger and Djoko, top level, Ancic, Gasquet, Murray, Ferrer, Davydenko the next level, Verdasco, Lopez, Safin, Monfils and Wawrinka, the 3rd level, and the top Americans still can't beat these lower-tier Euro players on home ground. It's amazing that guys like Becker used to win Indy and now it's be either Tursunov or Simon. The American players have fallen, but so have the American tournaments that aren't Masters. Last week we had a Santoro-Amitraj final in Newport, and I ain't talking Vijay.
There were about 100 people in the stands in INdy for the semis. How does a tournament survive with that dismal fan support? It is going to get downright disgusting when Roddick and Blake fall out of the top-10 in a a year or two. Maybe Todd Martin should make a comeback. He looks pretty good in the Outback Series.
