    Wozniacki/Azarenka report

Now generally I find the TW reporting outstanding but most of the salient details and very juicy ones at that I find missing in the latest report of the Veeka Wozniacki match.

Az. got nailed with a point penalty for blasting a ball, then lost a game to another point penalty for busting a racquet.  These two quick penalties put her 5-6 down but with Wozniacki serving.  Woz. had held serve by the slimmest of margins maybe once in the third set so whether she would hold to win the match remained to be seen.  Azarenka put up token resistance losing the final game of the match at love.  The telecast also clearly showed Azarenka next to her chair on the final changeover still smashing her already broken racquet on the court repeatedly as if in defiance and as if to challenge the umpire to default her from the match.

Azarenka simply put self destructed as so many other Russians before her have seemed to do this year.  She had two match points that she couldn't convert because she was playing a cagey Woz. who although she was injured was not going to hand the match.  Kudos to the real fighter who stood in there all the way to the end.  Only steady, stately Elena has steered clear of the unusual metldown behavior that vexes so many young Russian women.  They all seem prone to drama, not unlike the retiring Marat Safin.

The following match with Dinara Safina was yet another chapter in Russian Women pro tennis drama.  Dinara retires at 1-1 i the first set of her match with Jelena Jokic sobbing and refusing to either be consoled or discuss her troubles.  She supposedly had an injured back.  Granted it can be impossible to play with a ruined back but give us a break from the self serving sob story.  She just walks to her chair bawling like a spoiled child and then leaves without explanation.  Strange, yes and exceptionally unsportsmanlike.

Azarenka swaggers onto court like she has 29 grand slams under her belt already, then quits as if someone stole her ice cream cone.  When Safina loses, and loses bad, she cries because of what?  Pretty soon these prima donnas will be a major TURN OFF.

    Re: Wozniacki/Azarenka report

I missed part of the third set and thus missed Azarenka losing it like that.  Man I love the girls fire, but she'll have to get a handle on it.  She's awesome from the baseline, and if she can ramp up that serve a bit, she could become even more of a force.

But Wozniacki is staying calm and mentally more mature, and it is why, even with the injury, she looks like the better player at the moment, with a slam under her belt and a big win over the tempestuous Azarenka in Doha.

Why wasn't Adrianaa Outlaw covering the match? Does she still write for TW?

    Re: Wozniacki/Azarenka report

Wozniaki is a Hingis clone without the touch....Big Babe tennis might hit her off the court on fast surfaces, but on clay or medium to slow hardcourts she should do well..Her dad is a Yuri Sharapov clone...

Azarenka plays like a Russian, first sign of trouble and its sayanora

    Re: Wozniacki/Azarenka report

A big babe like Sharapova would hit Wozniaki  off a fast court like Flushing Meadows or a big babe like Dementieva on the same court?
