    Puzzled?

This is puzzling because crystal meth is a highly addictive drug, I am wondering if  Agassi is still on the drugs.

I said the same thing. I thought it was like crack (New York was so scary in those days) but maybe he was lucky. Not he's saying his father gave him pills before matches. Nic going Dad.

    Re: Puzzled?

Well I think he certainly isn't doing drugs now and almost certainly hasn't since the end of 1997 as he said - you can't take crystal meth of ten years and not have your whole life ruined. Plus if he was still doing it, he wouldn't be saying anything...

Father - I gather it was a junior tournament (nationals in Chicago) and not a pro event. (Which doesn't make it ok and Mike Agassi seems to be the one coming out of this in the worse shape, apparently deservedly. But I have read several article recently about how common it is in all junior sports for parents to be giving their kids a "boost" - multiple high energy drinks etc - right before their turn.  So many nutty parents...

In both regards, there's a problem just now with these short snippets being quoted, circulated and analyzed without the context of the rest of the book - more than 400 other pages. I deduce from the video where he says he was lucky to avoid catastrophe (did he ever re the addictiveness of crytsal meth) that in the book it's actually probably framed much more in terms of what a total disaster he was making of his life and how he stopped that (which will be interesting to see since I think most people don't just decide to stop taking crystal meth and do it without some absolute serious effort to say the least).

It would be good not to rush to judgment until the whole book is available. I'd say his pr team have made a hash here of leeting these excercpts float around with no context ten days before the book is out.

I'm not buying Agassi's book, if you're smart you wouldn't either

Crystal meth is highly addictive. The more you do it the more likely you are to become dependent on it.

The effects of meth can sometimes vary depending on the person's economic background. A wealthy user has access to the best medical care so we don't always see tell-tale signs of excessive use. In some of those cases there are no jobs to lose and with a continuous cash flow no need to steal from or alienate family and friends.

Let's not delude ourselves about Agassi's admission. If he did meth more than once in '97 there's a 99% chance that he's done it more than once since. If in that very slim chance Agassi stayed clear of the drug since '97, talking about the euphoric feeling and the high he got while doing meth more than likely reawakened old cravings. Along with being very addictive there's also a very big chance for a meth relapse no matter how long you've gone without it.

I'm not buying Agassi's book. Agassi is looking to be rewarded for bad behaviour here. He accepted millions to write a controversial book about something he supposedly regrets. He's going along with this very calculated marketing plan to release snippets of the book ahead of its release to generate interests so he'll make even more once the book skyrockets up the bestseller list with the help of gullible fans.

If Agassi is truly sorry he wouldn't be looking to profit from it. If he's truly remorseful he would take all that money he's getting from this book and donate it to drug treatment programs, anti-doping programs, and families who have been destroyed by drug addiction. Agassi wants us to believe that he's unburdening his soul but in reality all he's done is sold it.

How about, let she who is without sin be the one to cast the first stone!

I do keep forgetting how many on here are among Andre's close confidants, and know his every thought, motive, etc.

    Thanks Scoop!

How about let he who has nothing good to add shut the hell up. I don't need to be Agassi's close confidant to see that he's is full of it.

You don't wait 12 years to come clean and you shouldn't need a multimillion dollar book deal to do it. Actions speak louder than words, if he's truly sorry he shouldn't be looking to profit from it. Simple as that.

Anyway, if people want to fall for Agassi's marketing ploy more power to them. I know one thing for sure Agassi's not getting another dime of my money.
