    Thank you Sharapova...

Thank you for all your complaining and all your moaning about how you don't want your photo take. You know why I thank you? Because I am sick and tired of your photo showing up on every damn site and eveyr article. So thank you because the world does not need another photo of you.

    your serve,

    Ace

Thank you Ace, I join you for the thanks to Sharapova - yes I am sick too of seeing her pics everywhere plus the commercials ! same for Federer - one could believe they are the only tennis players in the world - it is great time for fresh blood and more exciting tournaments - without knowing who is going to win anyway - Mr. Federer should take a break in South Africa

    Ace....lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So true...I'm so tired of looking at her face everywhere.  Hellllllo out there...she's not that pretty.

And personally, I'm sick and tired of hearing all the whining from both the women's and men's side about how rough their lives are.  Boo hoo...rolling my eyes here.  Maria, Rafa, Nole, etc. etc.

They need to grow up.  And if they are too spoiled and immature to understand that their lives are incredibly spectacular compared to most everyone else in the world, the people who are their agents need put tape over their mouths so they don't embarrass themselves or the sport anymore.  Or maybe their agents are living in as much of an insular, isolated, bubble-like world as they are. :-(

Complaining about getting her picture taken???? Does she really expect that anyone is going to feel sorry for her?

    Re: Thank you Sharapova...

I like Sharapova to an extent, that little conversation with her coach when playing Serena, dropped it down a hefty bit, but she is well over exposed in my opinion. For someone with only 3 grand slams, she's never been dominate like the women who's names the announcers (by way of the WTA I'm assuming) speak of her.

It amuses me how many times they stumble to call her "Maria" as is a single name celebrity, when instinctually they call her Sharapova. There is no doubt she's famous in the tennis world, but she isn't a real celebrity, or for that matter even the crowd favorite. Those camera commercials, which were a staple for Andre A., are probably the most exposure she gets.

Remembering what little I do from grade school, Chris Evert had dozens of them, plus main stream attention. The term "Tennis Bracelet" comes to mind when you see how much impact she had on the media at large. Billie Jean King also had a very famous career before she was outed as a ***. Ms. Graf was so huge in Germany, nothing can come close to describing her fame. Navratilova was on 20/20 at least 3 times, more for infamy than fame, but I guess that counts, we all know her story.

All that said, where is Sharapova? Not so much in Russia, and not much in the US. Both Venus & Serena, good or bad, are commented on constantly in American society. Blogs like Perezhilton & D-Listed and even Page Six report on them almost daily; and that's just a brief sampling. I thought when the lead singer of Maroon 5 went on Howard Stern and professed how bad she was in bed would at least catapult her into moderate celebrity, something that Capriati still commands, but not even that registered.

I understand she's has the most marketable features, but if no one is really paying attention, shouldn't there be a plan "B." They didn't force Henin down our throats this way and she actually became a legend on this tour. Let's not forget other players that reached equal pinnacles like Davenport & Kim C.
