    Williams sisters final

I wonder what the AELTC is thinking now that it's an all-Williams final again. Since they seeded Dinara Safina #1, ahead of Serena (2 time champ and 4 time finalist) and Venus (5 time champ and 2 time finalist) ? ! ?

I don't usually find the Venus-Serena matches interesting for two reasons. 1. They play so similarly. 2. It's so obvious the crowd has difficulty cheering or even knowing how to react. It's an awkward moment for all involved.

They have subtle differences. Venus has the more explosive serve, is more willing to come to net. Serena is the better overall player.

I am not expecting a spectacular match. For the sake of the women's game, they better have a 3 set match!

At the beginning of the tournament I favored Serena. After her US Open and Australian Open triumph, I felt she would be hungry to win Wimbledon again. Although Venus has that great belief about herself and game at Wimbledon, she still knows what Serena is capable of.

Up to the semis I still felt Serena would win. But now I think Venus will. It's not that one tight match ruins it for Serena. But Venus is the one entering the final in a serene mood. Serena will be feeling the extent of her semi on Saturday. She had to dig down deep to beat Elena, and she was quite frankly lucky to survive. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. But will she have to rely on luck in the final too?

Serena's play was spotty in the semis. And Venus has a much better serve than Elena.

Very nice for the US and NBC that it's an all-Williams affair on the Fourth of July!!

My only gripe about that is that the NBC ratings are likely to be good. And seriously, I'd prefer it if their ratings were so low that would consider abandoning tennis.
