That is really a shock.  I know earlier this year She and Jurgen Melzer were an item.  He now has a new girlfriend so they each moved on in their lives.  He must be some special person to be engaged to Martina and now Nicole.  If this is what she truely wants I wish them happiness.

Maybe catching Stepanek do his snake move with Vaidisova led Hingis to seek refuge between a different kind of white line? Maybe the "Black Widow" nickname doesnt fit, maybe shes been the dumpee not the dumper in those other famous pairings..Hingis should probably share some blow with Vaidisovas parents whose heads are probably going to explode any minute..

They both seem like very nice people. I can't picture them actually getting married though - would be very, very surprised if they actually go through with it. Women sure seem to love Stepanek - he's got a good sense of humor.

What is Vaidisova in such a hurry about? And the Step man must be able to work magic with the women as he got the facial looks of young Don Knotts. It's interesting that Nicole who seems like an American even though she was born in the Czech Republican, is hooking up with a fellow Czech, who although he lives in the US, seems as American as Ivan Lendl used to seem American when he was on tour. Tennis hooks up more couples of odd ages than any endeavor I've ever known.

Stepanek is a cool guy. I did a Biofile with him in 05 and liked him very much. Great interview too. The other thing that struck me about him is he really looks like a boxer, in the eyes. More than any tennis player I ever saw. He definitely would have been a good boxer if he chose that direction. Stepanek is definitely a warrior. That may sound kind of strange but that was one of the first observastions that entered my head during the interview which was in the locker room. This guy looks and has the firey but clam demeanor of a champion boxer. I recall he was wearing camaflouge shirt too.

And Radek Stepanek is a great character to watch too, that unforgettable five-set war with Djokovic went all the way to the wire. He's super intense but in a fair way. Him and Djokovic had a fantastic embrace at the end. One of the top moments of the 07 Open.

 No dis to Don Knott, but Stepanek's got a little more game than Barney Fyfe! They make a great couple, Vaidisova is right there with Sharapova, both pretty and an attractive personality.

 Wish them the best.

Tennis does make for strange matches. I read somewhere that Serena Williams is dating a movie director who made all the X-Men movies. I have not seen confirmation anywhere but that was the rumor. I wonder what they do with all the money they both earn.

Yes, tennis does produce some "unique" couplings.  With all the drama this sport produces, how in the world can it still be so 'under the radar'???

For the record, though Serena dumped Brett Ratner (yes, they were an odd couple) some 2 years ago.  She is now rumoured to be dating the rapper Common (formerly known as Common Sense) whose music video "I Want You" she appeared in (so I've been told).  You can probably catch the video somewhere on You Tube.

I recall that Martina was dating the great Spanish golfer Sergi Garcia a few years ago. She has raced through about half a dozen tennis players so she obviously has a way with athletes. BTW, on yahoo, it mentions that the athlete with the highest number of hits on yahoo's search engine in 2007  is still Anna Kournikova. And Anna has not played a professional tennis match in about four years or so. Not that I have ever put Anna's name in a search engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  

Wasn't Anna engaged to a hockey player from Russia before Sergi Garcia? Or maybe it was the golfer before the hockey player.

I don't ever remember Anna being engaged to any golfer.  Martina dated Garcia.

Anna may have dated as many as 2 Russian hockey players.  There were rumours that she was even married to one of them at quite an early age w/ a large age difference to boot (was it Sergei Fedorov??)  Don't know why I know any of this stuff (was never a fan) except that's what one gets for watching a bio-show on the E! Channel.

The other hockey player was Pavel Bure
